INGREDIENTS
- 4 Anjou USA Pears (red or green or a mix of both), peeled, cored and chopped
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- ¼ teaspoon cardamom
- ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 tablespoon chia seeds
DIRECTIONS
- In a saucepan over medium heat, add the chopped pears, ¼ cup of water, and sugar. Bring to a boil. Add the cardamom and cinnamon. Reduce the heat to medium low and cook covered for about 10-15 minutes or until the pears have softened.
- Mash with a fork or potato masher until the consistency you like. Remove from heat. Add the chia seeds and stir well to incorporate the chia seeds evenly throughout the pears. Allow the mixture to sit for 10-15 minutes so that the chia seeds absorb and the mixture becomes thicker and the consistency of jam.
- Pour the jam into a glass jar and allow to cool. Refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.
